| Thermoplastic pipe is made to three dimensioning
systems based on controlled outside diameter.
These pipes have a controlled outside-diameter
equal to those of commercial IPS wrought steel
pipe (steel pipe sizes) specified by ANSI
B36.10, ductile-iron pipe sizes specified
in AWWA C151, and small diameter copper-tube-size
(CTS) per ASTM B88. |
| Controlled outside diameter pipes are manufactured
to the stated OD’s below, but with the
pipe walls sized in accordance with the Dimension-Ratio
(DR) principle where-by all pipe sizes in
the same DR series have the same ratio of
OD to minimum wall thickness. All pipe sizes
of the same material and constant DR series
have the same working pressure rating and
pipe stiffness. |
